Amazing Grace

I never truly understand this until Febuary 7th, 2011. Jen showed me in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life".
Below the passage, she drew 2 clifts with a long space in the middle.
"Have you seen this?" she asked.
"Yep, it has a cross in the middle right?" and I drew a cross in the middle. I've seen this picture before. A really long time ago, but I didn't care much for it at that time.
The she drew 3 lines on one side of the clift and ask "What is the 3 main words in 'For the wages of sin is death'?"
I said "sin and death?" She smiled and said "Yes".
Then she wrote on the 3 lines 'Wages', 'Sin' and 'Death'.
On the other side, she drew another 3 lines then asked me "what is the 3 main words in 'But the gift of God is Eternal life'?
I said "Gift and eternal life?'
She said yes and write 'Gift', 'God' and 'eternal life'.
She said "We are sinners and we are on this side". She pointed at the side that said wages, sin and death.
"God is on the other side" she said. "No matter how good of a person we are, we can never be perfect like God".
I never really thought of it that way before and now I finally understand. We are sinners and the path we're taken is leading to hell. But with God's love and grace, He sent His only Son to die on the cross and save us sinners. Through Jesus, we can have eternal life with God. We can never cross the clift by ourselves. It really is an amazing grace.
